We highly recommend you attend a local bee club meeting.  There's one for Pasco that meets in Hudson, one for Pinellas that meets in Seminole, and one for Hillsborough that meets in Seffner.  All three of these bee clubs have club hives and do work days for people to come get their hands in the bees and learn.
